New year, new adventure

The Canton of Dun Traigh will go inactive as an official branch of SCA, Inc. on December 31, 2018.

Our group has dwindled to four active members, and while we will personally maintain our membership and current activity, we do not see a future for maintaining a separate branch organization. The Canton has always been a sub-group of the Barony of Andelcrag, itself a group within the Kingdom of the Middle — Andelcrag will be the official SCA, Inc. branch for the Michigan counties of Mason, Oceana, Muskegon, Ottawa and Northwest Allegan county.

The former members of the Canton are forming an unofficial “household” group, which we are calling the Hamlet of Dun Traigh. Anyone living in the former lands of the canton is welcome to be a part of our new endeavor. The name and heraldry of the former canton reverts to the Midrealm, and will continue to be displayed in Andelcrag without the laurel wreath, in honor of the barony’s past.

The Hamlet will be holding our usual weekly practices and meetings in the Muskegon area, as citizens of (and reporting to) Andelcrag. We hope to also participate in activities and educational demonstrations in other areas previously covered by the canton; we feel it is important for a large barony such as Andelcrag to bring the SCA the all lands, even where no canton exists.
